Oberg Hydroacoustics provides hydroacoustics and hydrometry consulting services. The owner, Kevin Oberg, served as the National Coordinator for Hydroacoustics in the USGS for 25 years. He led a USGS team that transformed hydrologic measurements in the USGS and around the world. He developed innovative applications, established training programs, and provided technical support in hydroacoustic methods. Kevin has extensive experience in measuring flood and measured many of the great rivers of the world including the Amazon, Paraná, and Mississippi Rivers. He is also knowledgeable of streamgaging practices and methods, streamgage operation, and the production of streamflow records. After 39 years with the USGS, Kevin began to provide a consulting services, including training, measurement review and analysis, and technology evaluation. He also continues collaborations with colleagues in Argentina, Canada, Uruguay, Peru, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the US and serves on the WMO Expert Team.
In addition, he volunteers in his community, helping disadvantaged and elderly people. find housing, obtain food and medical care, and legal assistance.
